Working as a digital nomad has its perks, but a major disadvantage is the constant search for reliable internet, a quality space to work and an environment that will support you and your work habits.
I am not one who can simply post up in a loud cafe, and produce quality work. I usually require silence, which can be difficult to find.
Below are a two of my favorite work spaces in Madrid, in no particular order:
The Shed, Co. – https://www.theshedcoworking.com/en/
This workspace was one of my first spaces I checked out while in Madrid. For Nomads, looking for a flexible option, there are day pass options which cost 15 Euros per day. You get access to coffee/tea, usage of common areas and other shared services such as screen rental, rental of meeting rooms and printer and photocopier.
My favorite aspect of this workspace was the separation of two working areas, one being dedicated solely to silence and the other is your typical open seating setup, where many people jump on calls and tends to be a bit louder.
Below is a summary of some of the rates:
15 € – Lite Day Pass
22 € – Standard Day Pass – Screen rental included and access to 1 hr of meeting room.
149 € – Flex Position for Self Employed – Monthly – 5 hr of meeting rooms per month.
189 € – Flex Position for Companies – Flexible workstation in shared room. Domiciliation and receipt of mail included.
I didn’t have many complaints, but below are few negative aspects:
– Phone booths did not have great internet service, so I was unable to use my computer while in a conference call.
– Restrooms were limited. On the main floor, there were only single stalls. Not a major issue, there are additional restrooms on the main floor.
Oxygen Workspace – https://oxygenworkspace.com/precios-coworking-madrid/
This workspace is in a different part of Madrid, closer to the Principio Pio, with easy access via metro. There are a lot of flexible options, I won’t go into all those details as you can cater it specifically to your needs. Long story short: this place was super quiet, with great lighting and amenities!
You can pay by the hour, which I did. The fees are €2.5 per hour, which gives you access to all the meeting rooms, call booths and all services included. Friendly staff and a super quiet space to work in. A benefit of this workspace is that all desks have monitors which you can connect to for no extra charge.
Ciao!
